Miami residents are spoiled when it comes to dining opportunities. In fact, one of the problems with living in Miami is trying to decide where to go for lunch or dinner – there are just so many choices. From the type of food offered to the location and ambience, Miami is a world-class epicurean’s dream.
This is why so many Miami residents wait all year for Miami Spice, which occurs this year from August first through September 30th.
If you’re new to Miami and have never heard of Miami Spice, get ready to be blown away, as 121 of Miami’s finest restaurants strut their stuff on your plate. World-renowned chefs create their signature dishes and combine them into three-course, prix-fixe lunches ($19 or $23) and dinners ($33 or $39), offered at participating restaurants.
For less than the cost of a tank of gas you can indulge in Italian food at Anacapri on Ponce or South Beach’s Bianca; Argentinian at Baires Grill; Cuban cuisine at Bongo’s Cuban CafĂ© and even organic delights at the Canyon Ranch Grill.
Sponsored by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, participating Miami Spice restaurants go through a rigorous selection process. “Part of the requirements of a restaurant to participate in Miami Spice, is that they have a good Zagat rating,” says Steven Haas, chairman of the board of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. Participating restaurants also have to prove that “they have a good reputation and are invested in our community,” Haas added.
You will find a full list of Miami Spice’s participating restaurants online at OpenTable and participating restaurants sorted by region at ILoveMiamiSpice.
